Rosenberger: New Wide-Ranging Cooperation with 3M

Rosenberger OSI, manufacturer of innovative fiber optic cabling infrastructures in Europe, announces that it has entered into a new wide-ranging cooperation with 3M. Rosenberger OSI is the first company, that assembles the innovative 3M Expanded Beam Optical Interconnect connector with fiber optic cables. This connector achieves excellent attenuation values especially in single-mode applications, which is unique on the market to date.

3M is a global innovation company founded in 1902 with 90,000 employees worldwide. The company has subsidiaries in 70 countries and operates 200 production sites in 38 countries as well as 85 research and development sites in 36 countries. Through the cooperation with Rosenberger OSI, 3M aims to further expand its sales activities and relies on the 25-year expertise of the Europe-wide expert in fiber optic cabling and service solutions for data centers, local networks, telecommunications and industry.

Thanks to the expanded beam optical system, the connector developed by 3M is less sensitive to dirt, so that multiple matings are possible with minimal cleaning effort. 3MTM Expanded Beam Optical Interconnect offers outstanding attenuation values for single mode applications - insert loss: <0.70 dB and return loss: >55 dB. Optimized for the next data center generation, the expanded beam connector is equipped with a ferrule supporting 12 single mode or multimode fibers.

"We are pleased about the collaboration with 3M, a well-known global company and will contribute our entire expertise to provide our customers with a revolutionary solution for future cabling projects," says Thomas Schmidt, Managing Director of Rosenberger OSI.
